    Bio Security alert – Be aware of the potential dangers of Foot & Mouth Disease

    With the increasing risk of F&MD being introduced to Australia, it is essential that walkers take precautions to combat the potential spread of this and other soil borne diseases. Walkers are asked to clean footwear and equipment to eliminate the chance of spreading disease.

    Heysen Trail closure through the Buckaringa Sanctuary, Friday 26th to Monday 29th August 2022.

    The Heysen Trail through the Buckaringa Sanctuary will be closed to walkers from the evening of 26th August to 8.00am on 29th August 2022. The closure is due to a feral animal control program being conducted in the area.

    The Heysen Trail through the Buckaringa Sanctuary will be closed to walkers from the evening of 1st July to 8.00am on 6th July 2022. The closure is due to a feral animal control program being conducted in the area.

    Reminder of a change to the Heysen Trail in the former Bundaleer Forest.

    A recent change to the Heysen Trail in the former Bundaleer Forest means the original route between Curnows Hut and New Campbell Hill has been reinstated. Please note that this change was omitted from an article in the upcoming August edition of the Trailwalker magazine.

    Access to the Heysen Trail in the Southern Flinders Ranges will be restricted from 6 am Saturday, 21 November 2020 until 2pm Friday, 27 November 2020.

    Walkers warned of night closure of trails in the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park for the next 12 months through to October 31st 2021.

    Some walking tracks in The Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, will be closed at night time until the end of October 2021 due to a feral cat control program. The Heysen Trail will remain open but walkers need to take care.

    Mid North Park closures affect Heysen Trail – May 24th to June 1st 2020.

    Heysen Trail affected by Mid North park closures from May 24th until June 1st 2020. A feral animal control program will be conducted in the Hopkins Creek & Caroona Creeks Conservation Park.

Opening hours

We’re open Mon-Fri, 10.30am–2.30pm. As we’re staffed by volunteers, the office may occasionally be closed, so it’s best to call before you visit.
