    Trail care – the Heysen Trail needs our attention

    With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions many people have tried bushwalking and camping for the first time. Some people have camped wherever they can find a spot. This type of behaviour has understandably upset some owners of land on or near the trail. We all need to remember to follow good bushwalking and camping etiquette.

    Heysen Trail Closure – Southern Flinders Ranges

    Access to the Heysen Trail in the Southern Flinders Ranges will be restricted from 6 am Saturday, 21 November 2020 until 2pm Friday, 27 November 2020.

    Walkers warned of night closure of trails in the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park for the next 12 months through to October 31st 2021.

    Some walking tracks in The Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, will be closed at night time until the end of October 2021 due to a feral cat control program. The Heysen Trail will remain open but walkers need to take care.

    Daylight saving is here and with the approach of warmer weather, our evening walks are about to start. For a change we may even have some earlier in the day.

    Heysen Trail closure through the Buckaringa Sanctuary, Friday 10th July to Tuesday 14th July 2020.

    The Heysen Trail through Buckaringa Sanctuary will be closed to walkers, Friday evening 10th July to Tuesday morning 14th July 2020.

    The Friends modified walk program to start around mid June

    Easing of SA Government restrictions will allow the introduction of a modified walk program, hopefully from around mid June. Details will be published when available. Current Golden Boots passes will be extended by 12 months.

    Mid North Park closures affect Heysen Trail – May 24th to June 1st 2020.

    Heysen Trail affected by Mid North park closures from May 24th until June 1st 2020. A feral animal control program will be conducted in the Hopkins Creek & Caroona Creeks Conservation Park.

    Prescribed Burn in Hale Conservation Park – week commencing 20th April 2020.

    Walkers are advised that the Hale Conservation Park will be closed this week for a prescribed burn. It is most likely to be held on Friday 24th April 2020.

Opening hours

We’re open Mon-Fri, 10.30am–2.30pm. As we’re staffed by volunteers, the office may occasionally be closed, so it’s best to call before you visit.
