Hiking from Myponga to Mt Compass

Section 8 of the Heysen Trail takes you from Myponga, through the Yulte Conservation Park to Mount Compass.

What you’ll experience hiking Section 8 of the Trail

Adelaide Hills and South Mt Lofty Ranges
22 km

After a short road walk you’ll enter the small, picturesque Yulte Conservation Park. You’ll emerge from the bushland to cross open farmland, continuing along Lawless Road (and the Myponga Pistol Club firing range) before gradually climbing to Mount Cone which offers distant views of Victor Harbor to the south.

Walker / Vehicle access

Location of Myponga

There is very limited parking at the marked end point where the trail meets Yulte Road

Larger groups should instead park at Myponga, either along Stephens Rd or in the Myponga Oval.

This creates a 1.5 km walk out to and from trail head.
