shelter with seating, bench and sink with untreated rainwater;
waterless toilets;
rainwater tanks (non-potable).
(NB the supply is monitored and topped up as necessary by the park rangers)

    Huh. Doing bookings for a walk of the Wild South Coast Way in late April.
    Noticed that there’s quite a price discrepancy between the Waitpinga and Sand Dunes campsites… Waitpinga is only $24.70/night which includes vehicle camping for up to 5 people.
    Sand Dunes is $30.40/night for up to 2 people, for the hiker only site.
    …that’s quite the premium especially if you are a party greater than two in size!

    Seems a bit off…(and it seems like similar discrepancies exist throughout Deep Creek for the other vehicle access campsites…)
    I’ll book the hiker only site, for the seclusion and to see what it’s like. Hope it’s not “sandy” still like what Bovey says…

      These fees are set by the Department/National Parks. The Friends are not involved in setting fees etc.

    I would not recommend camping here – instead of tent platforms, you are basically camping in sand pits. The site I used had a number of rocks available to tie down my tent, otherwise the slightest wind would have blown me down with pegs essentially in sand. If travelling through, I would camp at the Waitpinga campsite down the road where the campsites are actually green, there is water and flushing toilets. This site is definitely now worth the cost.

    Passed through here 5 May 2022, and checked out the new facilities. Plenty of shelter to get out of the wet and windy weather, two covered tables, a covered kitchen bench and cooking space, plus a USB charger. Water tanks are 5 x 5000 litres (approximately), and up to 100% full.
