What visitors have to say…

  1. Roy Jamieson

Are creeks bridged across the section from Cape Jervis to Tapanappa?

    1. Friends of the Heysen Trail

Yes, the creeks in that section are bridged. Further along there are a few unbridged creeks on Tunkalilla Beach that may have water. The depth of water is dependant on tidal movement and recent rainfall. However they are normally only ankle deep.

  2. Roy Jamieson

Is the water in the tanks at this campsite potable or does it need to be treated?

    1. Friends of the Heysen Trail

It is recommended that water all along the Trail be treated. Julian

  3. Evan Brennan

Is Balquhidder Campground still open? on google it says its permantly close

    1. Friends of the Heysen Trail

As a part of the Wild South Coast Way on the Heysen Trail, the former Balquhidder ‘walk-in’ site has been significantly upgraded, slightly relocated and renamed Kurri Ngawanthi/Creek ‘walk-in’ site.
Fees now apply to camp at this site. Book and pay via Parks SA website https://www.parks.sa.gov.au/booking/details#/accom/140592

  4. Mark Darter

Stayed here 4 May 2022, at the new facilities. Plenty of shelter to get out of the wet and windy weather, two covered tables, a covered kitchen bench and cooking space, plus a USB charger. Water tanks are 5 x 5000 litres (approximately), and some up to 100% full.

  5. Now renamed Kurri Ngawanthi and open.

Tent platforms, good toilet, camp kitchen.

    Book and pay via Parks.

  6. Friends of the Heysen Trail

Hi Mark, sorry, the campsites in national parks, and this one, are not dog-friendly.

Dogs are generally not permitted on the Heysen Trail. So that includes in national parks or private land, but they are permitted on the Trail along public roads and in Forestry SA pine plantation forests.
