What to expect

Commencing from Brock Reserve the walk climbs steadily up to the Mt Osmond Golf Course offering some panoramic views over Adelaide, then skirts the northwestern boundary of the course before crossing Mt Osmond Road into Gully Reserve and then into Themeda Rserve for a tricky descent on a narrow and often slippery path and couple of road crossings prior to a short sharp climb back into Mt Osmond Reserve. From there it is a gentle descent back to the cars,

After the walk you may like have coffee at the Ballaboosta Cafe on the corner of Waterfall and Glyburn Roads, Burnside.

BIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear, clothing, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

With increasing popularity of walks some may be in the morning with variable meeting times and longer than the evening walks.

These walks are for those who

  • may not be regular walkers,
  • have not walked in a group previously, or
  • want a shorter walk.

Anyone undertaking these walks may have only a modest degree of physical fitness. However read the walk description as some walks may be longer and more strenuous than others.

Hazards

A couple of busy road crossings and potentially slippery descent.

Requirements

Good quality footwear, clothing suitable for the weather conditions, hat, sunscreen and 2 litres of water. A personal First Aid kit and walking poles are recommended.

Experience

Trail Starter.

Registration terms and conditions

Summer Walks are of shorter duration, in warmer weather and generally in more accessible areas, the recommendations on appropriate clothing should be modified to suit the walk and weather conditions. If unsure, please check with the walk leader.

There is no Hot Weather Policy for Summer Walks. However if weather is severe or the conditions do not suit the particular walk a Summer Walk may be cancelled. Your Walk Leader will send an email to all walkers to advise of the cancellation. We suggest you check your emails before leaving to join the walk.

If unforeseen circumstances arise and you are no longer able to participate in the walk, please cancel your registration as soon as possible using the Manage Walk Registrations facility on your Account page.

Alternatively you can notify the office by 2.15pm on the last business day before the walk. Walk leaders do not have access to messages left on the answering machine after this time. If your Walk Leader has provided their mobile phone number you may be able to contact them prior to the walk (subject to phone service availability).
