EE15 Walk 47- Woolshed Flat to Quorn, Walk 46 – Broadview to Woolshed Flat

Walking from Broadview to Quorn on the Heysen Trail.

This event has passed.

What to expect

The walks for this weekend  have been altered from the orignal propsed walks due to significant rain event about to occur which will cause access issues and risks to walkers. Applogies for any inconvience.

This is a multi day walk. If you only wish to walk on one day, please contact the office once registrations open.

Saturday Walk 47: Woolshed Flat to Quorn  – 14km + 2km – A steady climb to start the day takes walkers to the top of the range and views over Picchi Richi Pass. After following the ridgeline for a few kilometres, the trail descends into the pass again, the remainder of this walk is spent following the historic Picchi Richi railway line, passing the remnants of deserted sidings and settlements.

Sunday Walk 46: Broadview to Woolshed Flat 21km – This section of the trail climbs through grazing land and natural scrub to Mount Brown, where after a very “testing” ascent, walkers are provided with spectacular views of the northern Spencer Gulf from the viewing tower. A pretty single file descent leads down to Waukarie Creek and a classic Flinders Ranges creek walk.

Walk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines, irregular surface with loose uneven, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.

BIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear, clothing, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

Walk difficulty: End-to-End 15

These walks are for those wishing to walk some or all of the Heysen Trail. There are approximately sixtyone day walks involved, spread over six years. The southern walks, from Cape Jervis to Kapunda, are held on one Sunday per month during the walk season. Due to the greater travelling distances involved, from Kapunda northwards, the walk is held over a weekend.

These arrangements make it easy to walk the entire trail because the Friends of Heysen Trail work out many of the logistics.

These walks are reasonably demanding and for walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain. They have a walking time of about 5 to 6 hours and will require a high degree of physical fitness.

Refer to the End-to-End Walks page for more detailed information.
