CANCELLED: Adelaide100 City-Norton Summit

This event has been cancelled (In light of the recent tragic events that occurred in Morialta Park this morning, I have decided to postpone tomorrows walk. Our walk is to follow the Adelaide100 as the trail passes through Morialta, via Deep View Lookout. I have been attempting to establish if the park will remain closed for police investigations, in particular the Deep View Lookout area. Unfortunately I am not aware of the parks status and we may not know until tomorrow. I would like to avoid being given a diversion by the authorities, that will have us back track around the park upon our arrival at the lookout. This day will be long enough without risking the inconvenience of any additional kms, and also resulting in not being the true Adelaide100 route. This decision has not come easy and I apologise for the late notice and any inconvenience I will reschedule this walk for Sunday the 18th September and hope you can be available.).

What to expect

Following the section of the ‘Adelaide100’ from Adelaide City to Norton Summit, we will be following the River Torrens Linear Park until we link up several streets to enter and climb up Black Hill, then across and into Morialta, and finally onto Norton Summit.

This is expected to be a demanding day out, and due to the distance, a reasonable walking speed will be required to have us finish before it gets dark.

It is a walk for those who are capable of maintaining a good pace with minimal breaks, and who are able to cover the distance. Also for those who want to undertake the entire ‘Adelaide100’ circuit.

If you have not recently walked further than 30km in one outing, please do not start with this walk.

If the forecast temperature for Adelaide is equal or higher than 32C, walks are cancelled. For simplicity, this can be determined the night prior to the walk from the 7.00 pm ABC News Adelaide weather forecast, based upon the Bureau of Meteorology’s routine 4pm forecast.

Your Walk Leader will send an email to all walkers advising the walk is cancelled. We suggest you check your emails before leaving to join the walk. Even if the forecast temperature is later revised, the walk remains cancelled. In such a case walk fees will be refunded.

If unforeseen circumstances arise and you are no longer able to participate in the walk, please cancel your registration as soon as possible using the Manage Walk Registrations facility on your Account page.

Alternatively you can notify the office by 2.15pm on the last business day before the walk. Walk leaders do not have access to messages left on the answering machine after this time. If your Walk Leader has provided their mobile phone number you may be able to contact them prior to the walk (subject to phone service availability).
