What you’ll experience hiking Section 51 of the Trail

Flinders Ranges
17.0 km

If you are starting from Warren Gorge you’ll use the scenic spur trail from Warren Gorge to return to the Trail at Peter’s Corner and head north towards Mount Arden South campsite. Just north of the campsite you’ll leave the creek to climb to the exposed Mount Arden summit for spectacular 360 degree views. You’ll then follow the main ridgeline before descending to a pretty but rugged creek to exit at Buckaringa Gorge. Located within the Gorge, Buckaringa Wildlife Sanctuary is a stronghold for the vulnerable yellow-footed rock-wallaby.
  • The Australian Wildlife Conservancy undertakes regular feral animal control in the Buckaringa Sanctuary resulting in temporary Trail closures.  Learn more about temporary Trail closures click here.
  • To bypass the closure south-bound walkers should leave the trail just after the Buckaringa North campsite to follow the Buckaringa Scenic Drive south to join the Arden Vale Road … and to rejoin the trail via Warren Gorge.
