SW Seacliff / Hallett Cove ( morning)

This event has passed.

What to expect

Seems hardy necessary to write a description of this walk as most of Adelaide, it seems, has walked it at some time in the past. Seacliff to Hallett Cove via coastal tracks and return. Plenty of ups and downs. Steps, and then more steps. And now we have a new Suspension Bridge as well. Vertigo anyone?

Cooling breezes off the sea to counter the fact that the trail is totally exposed. So, bring your broadest brimmed hat and sunscreen.

Post walk coffee catchup for those that can stay.

BIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear, clothing, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

Walk difficulty: Summer Walks

These walks are only for when it is not walk season. The walks are generally 1.5 to 2 hours mostly on Wednesday evenings, meeting at 6pm, followed by a meal, close to Adelaide. With increasing popularity of walks some may be in the morning with variable meeting times and longer than the evening walks.

These walks are for those who

  • wish to maintain their fitness outside the walking season,
  • may not be regular walkers,
  • have not walked in a group previously, or
  • want a shorter walk.

Anyone undertaking these walks may have only a modest degree of physical fitness. However read the walk description as some walks may be longer and more strenuous than others.

Hazards

Cyclists. Dogs walking their owners. Vegetation that scratches and critters that bite. Summer walk (heat).

Requirements

Weather appropriate clothing and sound footwear. Hat and sunscreen. Min 2 litres of water. Morning tea. Poles if you use them.

Experience

Able to walk 15k on uneven and undulating trails. Lots of stairs so can be challenging if you have knee or ankle issues.

Registration terms and conditions

Summer Walks are of shorter duration, in warmer weather and generally in more accessible areas, the recommendations on appropriate clothing should be modified to suit the walk and weather conditions. If unsure, please check with the walk leader.

There is no Hot Weather Policy for Summer Walks. However if weather is severe or the conditions do not suit the particular walk a Summer Walk may be cancelled. Your Walk Leader will send an email to all walkers to advise of the cancellation. We suggest you check your emails before leaving to join the walk.

If unforeseen circumstances arise and you are no longer able to participate in the walk, please cancel your registration as soon as possible using the Manage Walk Registrations facility on your Account page.

Alternatively you can notify the office by 2.15pm on the last business day before the walk. Walk leaders do not have access to messages left on the answering machine after this time. If your Walk Leader has provided their mobile phone number you may be able to contact them prior to the walk (subject to phone service availability).
