This event has passed.

What to expect

Welcome to Walk 1 for the new End to End 15 group.

This first E2E Walk starts from the Cape Jervis trailhead, and follows sandy coastal tracks and exposed coastal hillsides, providing spectacular views over Backstairs Passage to Kangaroo Island.

Walkers are sometimes rewarded with sightings of seals and dolphins. At Blowhole Beach the trail enters Deep Creek Conservation Park to begin the long climb through native bushland to Cobbler Hill.

Note: If you are wishing to do this walk as a catch-up please refer to calendar as planned walks in this area are being organised throughout the year for other E2Enders to do catch-up walks without taking the place of new Heysen members wishing to commence their journey.Walk1-14th Aug ,Walk2-28th Aug

Information re BUS transport: For End to End walks the bus does NOT transport walkers from Adelaide to the walk. After registration, walkers will be given instructions to drive their vehicle to the meeting point which will be at the END point of the day’s walk. The cars remain there and the bus transports the group to the start point. From there, the group walks back to the cars.

These walks are for those wishing to walk some or all of the Heysen Trail. There are approximately sixtyone day walks involved, spread over six years. The southern walks, from Cape Jervis to Kapunda, are held on one Sunday per month during the walk season. Due to the greater travelling distances involved, from Kapunda northwards, the walk is held over a weekend.

These arrangements make it easy to walk the entire trail because the Friends of Heysen Trail work out many of the logistics.

These walks are reasonably demanding and for walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain. They have a walking time of about 5 to 6 hours and will require a high degree of physical fitness.

Refer to the End-to-End Walks page for more detailed information.
