Social:

Hi all,

The Theme for the walk on Saturday the 22nd is Italiano. We hope you will embrace the culture, don an outfit and maybe enjoy a game of Bocce.
We will be ordering Pizzas from the local pizza bar and hope to be able to eat them at the pub while enjoying a Vino or Bir. If not another venue will be organised.

The plan is to preorder pizzas a week before and then pick up on the night.

If you could let us know your intentions and preference when registering (tick RSVP and enter details into note field (No of meals and size), together with any dietaries we can put together a plan – meals options .  Gluten free bases are available but only in the small size.

We are looking forward to getting this year underway and will check in with you all this weekend.

Cheers Jo on behalf of the Social Committee.

Walk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines, irregular surface with loose uneven, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.

BIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear, clothing, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

Walk difficulty: End-to-End 15

These walks are for those wishing to walk some or all of the Heysen Trail. There are approximately sixtyone day walks involved, spread over six years. The southern walks, from Cape Jervis to Kapunda, are held on one Sunday per month during the walk season. Due to the greater travelling distances involved, from Kapunda northwards, the walk is held over a weekend.

These arrangements make it easy to walk the entire trail because the Friends of Heysen Trail work out many of the logistics.

These walks are reasonably demanding and for walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain. They have a walking time of about 5 to 6 hours and will require a high degree of physical fitness.

Refer to the End-to-End Walks page for more detailed information.
