Walk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines, irregular surface with loose uneven, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.

Hi All,

Lets all get this year’s socials off and running. After the first weekend away we are all back on track ( pardon the pun) and ready to socialise.

For this walk and before the weather turns too bleak it would be great to have a BBQ and a campfire.

We will be based in Burra and have flagged a couple of sites with bbqs and an area to mingle afterwards. The exact location will be confirmed once we have checked these out on the first walk.

BBQ Sausages and Patties will be provided along with bread and sauces for a minimal fee. $5.00 per head.
If you have any non meat preferences could you please bring your own and enjoy the bread and sauces at no charge.

We will ask for everyone to contribute to either a savoury or sweet option for the rest of the meal. Nothing huge or troublesome just a plate for sharing.

This will be done by having men bringing savoury and women bringing sweet. Next time we have a BYO we will swap it over.

The campfire will be lit so we can gather around for a few games, listening to some tunes or if you would like you could toast some marshmallows.

Our theme for the evening will be WEAR AN APRON.. an essential item for BBQ ing.

Looking forward to catching up with you all then.

Jo

Walk difficulty: End-to-End 15

These walks are for those wishing to walk some or all of the Heysen Trail. There are approximately sixtyone day walks involved, spread over six years. The southern walks, from Cape Jervis to Kapunda, are held on one Sunday per month during the walk season. Due to the greater travelling distances involved, from Kapunda northwards, the walk is held over a weekend.

These arrangements make it easy to walk the entire trail because the Friends of Heysen Trail work out many of the logistics.

These walks are reasonably demanding and for walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain. They have a walking time of about 5 to 6 hours and will require a high degree of physical fitness.

Refer to the End-to-End Walks page for more detailed information.
