SUMMARY:EE19 Montacute Hts-Cudlee Ck-Nugget Rd
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FOHT office (once registration has opened) to register for that day’s walk. The on-line registration system will only allow you to register for both days.\n\nNOTE: These walks are being walked out of order\, so that the harder walk is on Saturday.\n\nSaturday 18th July: Cudlee Creek to The Nugget Rd (23km)\n\nAlong this part of the Trail you’ll be led through the rolling hills of the Southern Mount Lofty Ranges and sections of Mount Crawford Forest. You’ll enjoy outstanding views as you climb towards Mount Gould. This walk description may change after the Cudlee Creek re-route is finalized.\n\nSunday 19th July: Montacute Heights to Cudlee Creek (19km)\n\nAfter an initial road walk the Trail makes a very long and steep descent to Sixth Creek before climbing again through Montacute Conservation Park and Mount Crawford Forest Reserve. The section between the Montacute Conservation Park and Snake Gully Road (Cudlee Creek) was devastated by bushfires in 2019. Fortunately the vegetation is gradually returning and you’ll enjoy a pleasant walk past pretty private gardens along Holland Creek Road as you complete your walk. This walk description may change after the Cudlee Creek re-route is finalized.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base.
