SUMMARY:Clare Wine and Wilderness  Trail 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Clare Wine and Wilderness Trail was completed in 2023 and is a 100km tail around the Clare Valley\, traveling on a network of backroads\, road reserves & private property. It is graded as a moderate hiking trail comprising of 6 stages.\n\nWe will be walking during bud-burst so we will see the vines awakening from their winter dormancy.\n\nIncluded in Package\n\nThis packaged extended walk includes bus fares\, a walk fee (Golden Boots does not apply)\, welcome drinks and nibbles. The final celebration dinner to be held on Saturday night is at the cost of the walkers.\n\nPlease note only registrations for the whole week will be accepted.\n\nAccommodation\n\nParticipants will need to book their own accommodation. The Discovery Park Clare Caravan Park have cabins catering for a range of budgets and powered and un-powered caravan and camping sites. I suggest you book as soon as possible.\n\nGroup activities will be based at the caravan park except for the final dinner.\n\nExcluded\n\nThere will be an optional activity of a structured wine tasting hosted by Paul Gill\, which will be at the caravan park on Tuesday evening for those interested in participating at an additional cost. We may need to split into two groups over 2 nights if the numbers require this. Please use the meal RSVP option to register for the wine tasting. The cost will be determined when the number of participants is known. Around $30.\n\nWalkers wishing to participate in wine tastings after each day’s walk do so at their personal cost and risk.\n\nNon walking partners are welcome to attend the final dinner and the wine tasting. SUMMARY:TW Sturt Gorge River Trail Loop
DESCRIPTION:We start by walking on some trails in a gully at the northern side of Sturt Gorge\, before ascending to a ridge track with undulations. We then descend to the river and start walking the River Trail. We follow the River Trail (with a small detour to the dam wall) until Murrays Hill Road\, with multiple crossings of Sturt River via rocks\, some rock scrambling and plenty of ups and downs. We then return to the cars via some Craigburn Farm tracks (including the lake) and some fire tracks. Interesting rocks in the gorge\, scenic trees and river\, plenty of birdlife and the possibility of kangaroos or koalas. DESCRIPTION:This is a spectacular section of the Heysen trail as it passes through the native bushland of Cleland National Park\, Horsnell Gully and Morialta Conservation Parksand along roadsides\, providing frequent vistas over Adelaide and the Hills.\n\nMany ascents and steep descents can be expected\, and the walk length is 26km’s.\n\nThis is considered quite a demanding walk.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. If you only wish to walk on one day\, please contact the office once registrations open.\n\nSaturday Walk 51: Warren Gorge to Buckaringa Gorge\n\nWalkers starting from Warren Gorge will use the scenic spur trail to meet the through-trail at Peter’s Corner and head north towards Mount Arden South campsite. Just north of the campsite the trail leaves the creek to climb the exposed Mount Arden summit for spectacular 360 degree views. The trail then follows the main ridgeline before descending down to a pretty but rugged creek to exit at Buckaringa Gorge\n\nSunday Walk 52: Buckaringa Gorge to Calabringa Creek.\n\nA predominantly flat walk below rocky outcrops and then across Willochra Plain to Partacoona Station before a fast road to the end point.\n\n \n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. DESCRIPTION:Saturday 13th September:  Peters Hill to Gerkie Gap  18km\n\nA pleasant walk along back roads through undulating farmland to the southern end of Tothill Range\, taking in the town of Marrabel and its memorial to the famous buckjumper ‘Curio’\n\nSunday 14th September:  Gerkie Gap to Webb Gap  18km\n\nThis section of the trail follows the Tothill Ranges\, which boast the largest remaining section of remnant scrub in the area and are one of the delights of the Mid-North. The on-line registration system will only allow you to register for both days.\n\nSaturday 20th September: Waitpinga to Dump Rd (14km)\n\nOne of the most spectacular sections of the Trail. Walkers follow sandy tracks and clifftop trails through the coastal scrub of Newland Head Conservation Park\, and will have dramatic views towards Victor Harbor. Here whales have been sighted\, as well as seals\, dolphins and the endangered white bellied sea eagle. At Kings Beach the Trail leaves the coast and follows roads to begin the long journey northward inland.\n\nSunday 21st September: Dump Rd to Inman Valley (18km)\n\nAn undulating walk with a steep descent into a creek crossing. This section follows country roads\, farm paddock fence lines\, forest trails and road reserves. Native orchids\, grass trees\, abundant birdlife and classic Fleurieu farmland views make this a pleasant walk to remember.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. DESCRIPTION:Saturday 27th September:  Webb Gap to Burra Road  23km\n\nThe trail continues along the Tothill Range\, providing expansive views over the surrounding farmland and Apoinga Lagoon.\n\nSunday 28th September:  Burra Road to Worlds End  17km\n\nThe trail crosses undulating farmland before entering the scrubland of the Hallelujah Hills. The day finishes with an easy stroll to Worlds End Gorge. As you leave Worlds End Road look for the remnants of broken swing bridge on the right that used to cross the creek between two huge gum trees.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

SUMMARY:TW Sturt Gorge Lakeview
DESCRIPTION:We will start on the northern side of Sturt Gorge 7:15 for 7:30am start and initially head off through Blackwood Hill Reserve along the magpie creek trail into Sturt Gorge. We will do a figure 8 loop utilising different tracks which will include a walk around the lake before returning to the cars. The walk is approximately 14km so allow 4-5hrs. There are a few steep sections and several river crossings so be prepared to get your feet wet. Poles are recommended for those that use them. Please bring plenty of water a snack as we will stop for morning tea.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris.
