SUMMARY:Willunga Basin Trail
DESCRIPTION:The Willunga Basin Trail winds its way around and across the Willunga Basin for 130km: taking walkers through a diverse landscape of bushland\, forests\, vineyards\, almond groves\, parks and beaches. It links the townships of McLaren Vale\, McLaren Flat\, Kangarilla\, and Willunga to the suburbs of Aldinga\, Port Willunga\, Maslin Beach\, Moana and Seaford. It has been created and developed by volunteers. The Friends program aims to cover the loop over 6 walks.\n\nWALK 6: We will be walking through more remote parts of Onkaparinga National Park\, through Kangarilla to Ironbark Picnic Area\, Stagecoach Lane\, Kangarilla. 17km\n\nSufficient water for a day\, hat\, sunscreen and lunch are essential.\n\nPlease be aware of FOHT weather policies regarding cancellation of walks and adherence to Covid requirements. THIS WALK WILL USE A BUS so participants should use hand sanitiser and wear a face mask throughout the bus trip.

SUMMARY:Onkaparinga
DESCRIPTION:A Trail Starter in length\, but with uneven\, rocky\, slippery and undulating tracks.\n\nA circular walk in a small area of the Onkaparinga National Park passing through areas of native bush\, including pink gum and grey box woodland. We may see orchids\, kangaroos\, birds and echidna diggings.  As we make our way along some sections of the ridge top there is fabulous views of the gorge.

SUMMARY:E2E 10's Leigh Creek Rd (Old Wonoka) to Parachilna Gorge
DESCRIPTION:Our trip to the end of the trail!\n\nThis is a multi-day walk. Registration requires payment of the FULL BUS FEE.\n\nAccommodation and meal costs are not included.\n\nThere is limited accommodation still available at Rawnsley Park\, there are however three cabins in the caravan park on hold for participants on this walk. The cabins will be released to the public on the 28th June.\n\nThose registering are invited to travel on the bus\, at no extra cost\, from Adelaide to Rawnsley Park Station (Thursday July 8) and return to Adelaide (Saturday July 17).\n\nPassengers are asked to pack all clothing\, food etc into suit cases\, eskies and cardboard boxes.\n\nIf you choose to drive your own vehicle to the base location at Rawnsley Park you are still required to pay the bus fee.\n\nAccommodation and meal arrangements are the responsibility of each person registering.\n\nGroup meals are planned for Sunday July 11 (Sausage Sizzle) and Friday 16 July (Celebration Dinner)\n\nIf you are unable to walk for the specified 7 walk days comprising this multi-day event and you still wish to register\, contact the Friends’ office during operating hours.\n\nEnd to End 10 commenced walking the Heysen Trail on Sunday May 3 2015. This is the final set of walks ending at the Parachilna Trailhead on Friday July 16.\n\nBASE LOCATION: \n\nRawnsley Park Station\n\nThursday July 8\n\nFor those travelling by bus\, the departure time is 9.30 am from the Central Bus Station\, 85 Franklin Street\, Adelaide. Please be at the bus station at 9.00 am for loading.\n\nFriday July 9 (WALK 1 – Old Wonoka to Mt Little Stn)\n\nA classic Flinders Ranges creek walk\, the whole day is spent in Wonoka Creek which has been the site of a couple of major floods in recent years.\n\nSaturday July 10 (WALK 2 – Mt Little Stn to Moralana Dr)\n\nThis long section of the Trail (just over 30 kms) follows picturesque Mernmerna Creek and Slaty Creek to the Red Range campsite. After which it becomes a pretty walk with gentle undulations\, along creeklines and through native pine woodlands\, in the shadow of Elder Range and Mt Aleck.\n\nSunday July 11 (WALK 3 – Moralana Dr to Wilpena )\n\nThis is one of the very special walks of the Trail\, starting with a pretty creek walk through Black Gap\, before climbing the Pound Range to Bridle Gap\, where a look back provides spectacular views of Elder Range. Entering Flinders Range National Park\, it is a pleasant stroll across Wilpena Pound to complete the day.\n\nMonday July 12 (WALK 4 – Wilpena to Bunyeroo)\n\nThis walk is entirely within the Flinders Ranges National Park with much of the day spent following the Wilcolo Track between the ABC range and the towering peaks of Wilpena Pound.\n\nTuesday July 13 (REST DAY)\n\nWednesday July 14 (WALK 5 – Bunyeroo to Trezona)\n\nIn this section walkers climb from Bunyeroo Valley\, up to Yanyanna Hut\, passing several vantage points along the way that provide superb photo opportunities of the ranges behind. Continuing along Yanyanna Track\, the trail passes old settlers’ huts before entering the geologically significant Trezona area.\n\nThursday July 15 (WALK 6 – Trezona to Aroona Hut)\n\nThis section starts with a pleasant walk along Brachina and Enorama creeks past the Golden Spike and other significant geological sites\, before climbing to cross the ABC Range\, where spectacular views of the Heysen Range unfold.\n\nFriday July 16 (WALK 7 – Aroona Hut to Parachilna)\n\nThis final section of the trail follows Aroona Valley to the watershed dividing it from the Parachilna Creek catchment to the north. It then follows the valley between ABC Range and Heysen Range\, past abandoned mines to the final stile at the Parachilna Trailhead. This walk is a pleasant amble\, perfect for reflecting on the years and kilometres taken to get here\, and the friendships made along the way.\n\nThere will be celebration at the end of the walk followed by a celebration dinner at Rawnsley Park.\n\nSaturday July 17\n\nBus returns to Adelaide leaving Rawnsley Park at 8.30 am.

Photo opportunities abound\, and you might even spot a whale.\n\nThis walk starts with spectacular views to Tunkalilla Beach followed by a picturesque walk through dense bushland before a steep descent to Boat Harbor Beach.\n\nThe very testing 4km walk along Tunkalilla Beach is followed by a very steep climb up to Balquidder which makes it a unique and very memorable section of the Heysen Trail.\n\n \n\n“PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU USE HAND SANITIZER PRIOR TO BOARDING AND WEAR A FACE MASK THROUGHOUT THE BUS TRIP”

DESCRIPTION:Weekend based in Burra\n\nSat -The trail takes walkers past the historic Mt Bryan East School\, before beginning the climb up Mt Bryan. The highest peak in the Mount Lofty Ranges. DESCRIPTION:This is a loop walk\, walking to and through Hardy’s scrub.  You will see native flora and lovely overviews of the surrounding vineyards and hills.  There will be some sections of hill climbing\, but in the main will be gentle inclines and declines. \nThis walk will take approximately 3 1/2 hours.  You will need enclosed walking shoes/boots\, as we will be going through scrub\, as well as water and a hat.

DESCRIPTION:This weekend is based in Melrose\n\nAny walker with Respiratory symptoms or fever should exclude themselves from any activity until they have received a negative COVID result\, irrespective of Vaccine Status. If there is no testing available(eg Country areas) then they should consult the nearest Medical Professional available(directly or by phone). If no consult is available they should exclude themselves from activity until 3 days after symptoms have settled.\n\nPlease ENSURE that you use HAND SANITIZER prior to Boarding and wear a FACE MASK throughout each Bus Trip over the weekend.\n\nNOTE –If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FOHT office (once bookings have opened) to register for that day’s walk. The on–line registration system will only allow you to register for both days\n\nOn SATURDAY 24th JULY\n\nA terrific though challenging walk starting with a testing climb out of Horrocks Pass to the ridgetop followed by an undulating exposed traverse over gibber-littered hills and farmlands at times providing some stunning views over the Willochra Plains to the east and occasionally over Spencer Gulf to the west. At the end of the walk there is almost 3 klms walk-out from the Trail through farmlands back to our cars.\n\nOn SUNDAY 25th JULY\n\nCommencing with a brilliant little climb over Lavender Peak\, aptly named after principal architect of the Heysen Trail\, to get the heart pumping prior to a tricky descent to the picturesque Stony Creek campsite. From there the trail crisscrosses the creek(which at times has proven to be a challenge to cross)\, follows tracks\, backroads and a final undulating walk adjacent to the busy highway through Horrocks Pass to finish at the memorial to explorer John Horrocks.\n\nDinner on Saturday evening will be at the North Star Hotel from 7.00pm. Suggest we could meet for drinks from 6.30pm.
