SUMMARY:Happy Valley
DESCRIPTION:Happy Valley reservoir was opened in December 2021 after being closed for over 100 years.\n\nIt is now open for walking\, cycling\, kayaking and fishing.\n\nWalking to the dam wall we will see views across the water to the Adelaide Hills\, then walk through some off the natural bush and onto the shore line. DESCRIPTION:A loop walk starting from Brock Reserve with a pleasant climb up towards Mt Osmond golf course offering some splendid views across Adelaide to the gulf. DESCRIPTION:This approximately 9 to 10k return walk is in the Mt George natural scrub park area. Starting and finishing at the golf club.\n\nPlease be aware that there was a very low uptake for dinner.\n\nSo the walk will be a little longer with a rest/snack\, toilet stop.\n\nAlso a torch or headlamp may be needed to complete the walk.

SUMMARY:Old Noarlunga Loop
DESCRIPTION:A brisk morning wake up walk taking in the lower reaches of the Onkaparinga River and with a serious climb to deliver views across to the coast.  While its only about 4kms – approx 2 hours –  it offers an uphill challenge and some steep narrow sections.  Bring plenty of water\, sunscreen/hat and a snack. Gaiters are recommended given warmer weather creates potential for snakes in long grass.

SUMMARY:Brown Hill / Springwood Park & Wirraparinga Loop
DESCRIPTION:Exploring trails in the Mitcham / Brown Hill area\, we will ascend Brown Hill\, taking our time for breaks and to admire the city views\, before venturing into Springwood Park to follow the trail down the eastern side of Brown Hill\, some sections of narrow trail and loose underfoot.  Crossing Brownhill Creek we join the Wirraparinga Loop for a pleasant (and flat) return back to our cars.

DESCRIPTION:The Adelaide Park Lands Trail is a series of connected walking and cycling trails looping through or adjacent to 27 parks and other historical locations within central Adelaide and North Adelaide. Using the River Torrens as a bisector allows the trail to be divided into a Southern Loop and a Northern Loop\, which allows for more manageable walking distances over 2 days.\n\nThis walk will complete the Northern Loop of the trail (9km). The walk to complete the Southern Loop (16km) will take place on Sunday\, 24th October 2021 (refer to the Walk Calendar to register separately for the Southern Loop event).\n\nWhile city walking on a variety of flat bitumen\, paved and unsealed paths will not appeal to everyone\, these two events provide a great opportunity to walk a full loop of Adelaide while enjoying the park lands and other historical locations that make it such a unique city.\n\nPlease wear appropriate clothing and footwear and carry sufficient water for the conditions on the day. Bring snacks to have at a break along the way.

SUMMARY:Sturt Gorge
DESCRIPTION:This walk will be in Sturt Gorge.  It will include some steep sections.  We we will follow the River trail and will transverse water several times\, and this will include rock hopping.  The walk will also include the Magpie Creek Trail\, and a view of the Sturt Dam.  Waterproof hiking boots recommended.   This is a fairly challenging walk and good balance and fitness is required.
