DESCRIPTION:Please Note this weekends walks have been altered due to rain event on the Weekend of 26th and 27th July\n\nThis is a multi day walk. If you only wish to walk on one day\, please contact the office once registrations open.\n\nWalk 45: Horrocks  Pass Rd to Broadview Station  –Starting with a tough climb out of Horrocks Pass to the ridge\, the Trail traverses exposed\, gibber littered hills and farmland. Walkers are rewarded with views over the Willochra Plain and Spencer Gulf\n\nSunday Walk 48: Quorn to Dutchman’s Stern 16km  – This section of the trail passes the outskirts of Quorn before climbing gradually towards The Dutchmans Stern. Taking a detour off of the Heysen Trail to walk the 6 km Dutchmans Stern loop will provide a memorable highlight.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:TW Wattle Pk to Horsnell Gully
DESCRIPTION:Walk up Kensington Road\, Wattle Park to the lookout to see stunning views over the city to the coast. Follow a road reserve and suburban streets to Old Coach Road\, then a brief down hill and a lot of up hill until we reach the point where Old Coach Road intersects the Heysen Trail at the top of Horsnell Gully CP. Plenty of bush scenery and likely to see koalas. We then follow the Heysen Trail for a short while within Horsnell Gully CP\, before turning off onto the Rockdale Hill Track and walking mostly down hill to the Horsnell Gully CP car park. The next part is mostly up hill along suburban streets and gravel roads\, before entering the Magill Stone Mine Reserve. A few more suburban streets and we’re back to the cars.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:TW Sanderston Trail
DESCRIPTION:Opened in 2016 this Trail is quite different to most other walks. Situated on the Mallee side of the Adelaide Hills walkers are rewarded with rolling green hills\, spectacular views in all directions and some of the best dry stone walls in the state.The Trail itself is only 5kms long. DESCRIPTION:The walk will start on the Steub walking trail which climbs through forest woodland with wonderful views over the southern ridges and out over the Adelaide plains until we reach Mount Lofty Summit. From the summit we will take tracks less used until joining the popular Wine Shanty trail and on to the perimeter of the wildlife park. SUMMARY:E2E14 Final Fitness Walk – Cleland Conservation Park
DESCRIPTION:The E2E14 Leaders thought it fitting to re-visit the first walk we did together as a group.  The original walk was approximately 13kms however\, as you are now all “Trail Hardened” we have added 4kms and a visit to Mount Lofty Summit making it approximately 17kms and gives a taste of what lies ahead in our final week\, with sections of narrow path on hillsides and some challenging hill climbs and steep descents. It is a loop so you will be starting and finishing at your cars. All FoHT members are welcome to join us\, and for those of you new to hiking\, wear comfortable hiking boots with good grip\, bring along your walking poles (if you have them)\, two litres of water\, something to eat at morning tea and something for lunch and as the forecast is for wet conditions don’t forget your rain jackets & pants etc.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:WBT Section10+11 Section 9
DESCRIPTION:SAT 26th Sections 11&10\n\nStarting with a pleasant saunter through the Onka NP we then venture out onto many backroads and unmade road reserves. We have the opportunity to do a 2km loop through Manning Fauna & Flora Reserve as we travel along this section. Further along we also have the opportunity to climb Sandalwood Lookout\, a 1.5km return walk with views across the surrounding countryside. Leaving section 11 and moving onto section 10 we start heading for Willunga. A number of undulations are encountered on this section as we descend in and out of creek lines. Back roads and road reserves sees us finish the day in Willunga where the main street welcomes the weary walker.\n\nSun 27th Section 9\n\nStarting the day back up in the high country walkers are rewarded with distant views of where we’ve been in the previous months. A long section of back road walking{8kms} is covered before we enter Adams Gully Scrub\, which is also part of the Kidman trail. The trail then enters a number of private properties to finish off this section. One of these sections has a very steep section to navigate where care should must be taken.\n\nA reservation has been made for dinner at the Old Bush Inn\, 51-53 High Street\, Willunga at 6pm on Saturday 26th July 2025. If you only wish to walk on one day\, please contact the office once registrations open.\n\nSaturday Walk 47: Woolshed Flat to Quorn  – 14km + 2km – A steady climb to start the day takes walkers to the top of the range and views over Picchi Richi Pass. After following the ridgeline for a few kilometres\, the trail descends into the pass again\, the remainder of this walk is spent following the historic Picchi Richi railway line\, passing the remnants of deserted sidings and settlements.\n\nSunday Walk 46: Broadview to Woolshed Flat 21km – This section of the trail climbs through grazing land and natural scrub to Mount Brown\, where after a very “testing” ascent\, walkers are provided with spectacular views of the northern Spencer Gulf from the viewing tower. A pretty single file descent leads down to Waukarie Creek and a classic Flinders Ranges creek walk.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. DESCRIPTION:Starting at Sam Willoughby BMX park we head north and pick up some of the Adelaide 100 route under the Expressway and into Glenthorne. We’ll wind our way through the park headed south\, eventually leaving the park and crossing under the expressway at Lander Road.  Then we’ll follow the Panatalinga Creek completing the Trott Park loop and back into O’Halloran Hill and back to the cars.  Underfoot the trail follows dirt paths\, mown grassland and bitumen foot paths. SUMMARY:EE19 Tapanappa to Balquhidder
DESCRIPTION:This walk starts with several km’s of road walking before a picturesque route through bushland before a steep\, and likely slippery descent onto the rocky shoreline of Boat Harbor Beach. Spectacular views towards and along Tunkalilla Beach can be viewed through this part. After Boat Harbor Beach\, we will make our way onto and along the soft sand of Tunkalilla Beach for approx 4km\, followed by the infamous Balquhidder Hill. Sensational views back to the west will reward you at the top. This is followed by undulating hills\, and a road walk back to the cars. DESCRIPTION:Saturday;  Leaving Manoora we hike north then west then north again into Mintaro as we cross the Gilbert Valley agricultural district.\n\nMainly level and somewhat remote farming area.  Martindale Hall features on our walk as we come close to Mintaro. Watch the trail markers closely as they can be unclear at times. DESCRIPTION:Starting at Mt Crawford Information Centre\, we skirt around the edges of Warren Reservoir before climbing up into Warren Conservation Park. From there we head in a southerly direction along the Heysen Trail. Joining up with the Tower Loop Trail\, we head back to Tower Hill for panoramic views over the area. Then along forest tracks to Chalks campground\, followed by a climb over Little Mt Crawford and finally through Jenkins Scrub and back to the cars.\n\nThis walk is approx. 23 Kms and will take about 6.5 hours to complete. After a short walk through Frank Hilton Reserve we descend back onto the beach for a 3.6km sandy saunter.We get up close and personal with the Clarendon Fault as we stay close to the bottom of the cliffs for a while. At Moana we head inland passing wetlands hopefully with abundant birdlife.Joining the Coast to Vines Trail we pass under the Main South Rd & Victor Harbor Rd before finishing at McLaren Vale .\n\nSun 29th\n\nLeaving McLaren Vale we follow back streets of the town before heading out through wine growing country.A series of backroads sees us cross Chapel Hill Rd into Onkaparinga National Pk .1.3kms from here we’ll arrive back at cars.\n\nA reservation has been made at the McLaren Vale Hotel for 6pm on Saturday 28th June 2025.
