A few more suburban streets and we’re back to the cars.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. DESCRIPTION:Walk 7 Myponga to Mt Compass\n\nCommencing with a short road walk\, the trail enters the small but picturesque Yulte Conservation Park. After a steady climb you have a reasonable descent where walking poles\, if you have them\, will be put to good use.\n\nAfter emerging from the bushland\, the trail crosses open farmland\, continuing along Lawless Rd\, past the Myponga Pistol Club firing range\, and gradually climbing to Mt Cone\, passing interesting 2 tier tree plots dotted about the hills and from the top of the ridge you are presented with distant views south over Victor Harbor before finishing with a road walk to Mt Compass.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:EE19 Montacute Hts-Cudlee Ck-Nugget Rd
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FOHT office (once registration has opened) to register for that day’s walk. The on-line registration system will only allow you to register for both days.\n\nNOTE: These walks are being walked out of order\, so that the harder walk is on Saturday.\n\nSaturday 18th July: Cudlee Creek to The Nugget Rd (23km)\n\nAlong this part of the Trail you’ll be led through the rolling hills of the Southern Mount Lofty Ranges and sections of Mount Crawford Forest. You’ll enjoy outstanding views as you climb towards Mount Gould. This walk description may change after the Cudlee Creek re-route is finalized.\n\nSunday 19th July: Montacute Heights to Cudlee Creek (19km)\n\nAfter an initial road walk the Trail makes a very long and steep descent to Sixth Creek before climbing again through Montacute Conservation Park and Mount Crawford Forest Reserve. The section between the Montacute Conservation Park and Snake Gully Road (Cudlee Creek) was devastated by bushfires in 2019. Fortunately the vegetation is gradually returning and you’ll enjoy a pleasant walk past pretty private gardens along Holland Creek Road as you complete your walk. This walk description may change after the Cudlee Creek re-route is finalized.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. DESCRIPTION:Based In Quorn\n\nNOTE – If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FOHT office (once bookings have opened) to register for that day’s walk. The on-line registration system will only allow you to register for both days.”\n\nSaturday -Walk 45: Horrocks  Pass Rd to Broadview Station  –Starting with a tough climb out of Horrocks Pass to the ridge\, the Trail traverses exposed\, gibber littered hills and farmland. Walkers are rewarded with views over the Willochra Plain and Spencer Gulf\n\nSunday Walk 46: Broadview to Woolshed Flat 21km – This section of the trail climbs through grazing land and natural scrub to Mount Brown\, where after a very “testing” ascent\, walkers are provided with spectacular views of the northern Spencer Gulf from the viewing tower. SUMMARY:E2E17 Nth Booborowie Rd - Oban- Bundaleer Reservoir
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 8th August: North Booborowie Rd to Oban     22km\n\nIt may seem odd that you’ll walk south for most of this section of the Trail\, initially along the crest of Brown Hill Range following the remnants of South Australia’s longest stone wall which dates from the 1840s. This is quite an undulating walk with little shelter from the elements\, however the views are wonderful.\n\nSunday 9th August:  Oban to Bundaleer Reservoir    20km\n\nThe importance of fresh water is abundantly clear for most of this section of the Trail which follows the Freshwater intake channel for Bundaleer Reservoir\, only leaving it for a few kilometres to go through the township of Spalding. You’ll also see some fascinating examples of engineering from the early 1900s.\n\nNOTE – If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FOHT office (once bookings have opened) to register for that day’s walk. SUMMARY:Walk The Yorke Port Turton to Corney Point
DESCRIPTION:This event will involve car-pooling and be two sections over the weekend\n\nSection one: Point Turton to Point Souttar (13 km)\n\nA shorter section of the Walk the Yorke than we have been experiencing. Point Turton marks the ‘top of the foot” of the peninsular. What is noticeable\, compared to previous sections\, is the remoteness. Leaving Port Turton\, walking along a track with the ocean of one side and farmland of the other. A notable landmark will be The Drain\, an engineering marvel that 20 men dug in the early 1900s. Closer to Point Souttar we will find ourselves amongst she-oaks and scrubland.\n\nSection two: Point Souttar to Corney Point (21km)\n\nWeaving onto and off of the beach\, expect the unexpected. The day’s experience will depend on the weather; the area is known for its rains\, so bring your rain jacket. This area is full of history\, with Captain Flinders experienced the howling dogs. Likely the story behind the naming of the Howling Dog Tavern we will end our day at in Corney Point.\n\n \n\n \n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.
