There are plenty of climbs on this walk.\n\nThere are public toilets at Mylor\, Bridgewater Mill\, Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens and Cleland carpark.\n\nWalk time approx. 5.5-6.5hrs.\n \n\nSunday 16th August 2026 – Walk 13\n\nGrading: Hard. 26km\n\nTerrain: National or Conservation Park\, Native scrub\, Undulating and hilly\, Walking trail\nThis spectacular but testing with many ups and downs section of the Trail passes through the native bushland of Cleland National Park\, Horsnell Gully and Morialta Conservation Parks and along pleasant roadsides\, giving you the opportunity to take in spectacular views over Adelaide and the Hills.\n\nWalk time approx. 6-8 hours.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:Walk The Yorke Port Turton to Corney Point
DESCRIPTION:This event will involve car-pooling and be two sections over the weekend\n\nSection one: Point Turton to Point Souttar (13 km)\n\nA shorter section of the Walk the Yorke than we have been experiencing. Point Turton marks the ‘top of the foot” of the peninsular. What is noticeable\, compared to previous sections\, is the remoteness. Leaving Port Turton\, walking along a track with the ocean of one side and farmland of the other. A notable landmark will be The Drain\, an engineering marvel that 20 men dug in the early 1900s. Closer to Point Souttar we will find ourselves amongst she-oaks and scrubland.\n\nSection two: Point Souttar to Corney Point (21km)\n\nWeaving onto and off of the beach\, expect the unexpected. The day’s experience will depend on the weather; the area is known for its rains\, so bring your rain jacket. This area is full of history\, with Captain Flinders experienced the howling dogs. Likely the story behind the naming of the Howling Dog Tavern we will end our day at in Corney Point.\n\n \n\n \n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

SUMMARY:EE19 Pewsey Vale-Tanunda-Kapunda
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FOHT office (once registration has opened) to register for that day’s walk. The on-line registration system will only allow you to register for both days.\n\nNOTE: These walks are being walked out of order\, so that the harder walk is on Saturday.\n\nSaturday 5th September: Tanunda to Kapunda (24.5km)\n\nYou’ll travel along back roads and road reserves past iconic Barossa Valley vineyards and wineries. The small town of Greenock is a gateway into the cropping and grazing land of the Lower North and you’ll have a long but mainly flat walk with pleasant vistas and changing seasonal colours.\n\nSunday 6th September: Pewsey Vale to Tanunda (24km)\n\nThis is an easy section of the Trail that runs through the northern part of Mount Crawford Forest and through the native bushland of Kaiser Stuhl Conservation Park with its unusual weathered rock features. You’ll see panoramic vistas over the Barossa Valley and the Lower North.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.
