SUMMARY:TW Burnside Hills and Beyond.
DESCRIPTION:The final training walk for E2E16 before we launch into Year 4. But everyone is welcome. 16s are very friendly and seldom bite.\n\nStarting from Brock Reserve\, we head up through Mt Osmond Reserve. A brief visit into Glen Osmond CP before heading into Cleland. A bit of everything on this walk. Some ups and downs. Long flat stretches. Wide fire tracks and narrow bush trails. Some stoney sections. And if the weather gods bless us with some rain\, some slippery sections. And no Heysen walk would be complete without some roadside walking.\n\nAt 26k\, it roughly equates\, distance wise to day one of our first weekend away. But then we have to back up with another 22k the next day. A sobering thought.\n\n \n\n \n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:Mount Bold Reservoir & Rocky Creek with E2E14
DESCRIPTION:E2E14 are on the path to get fit ready for their final year on the Heysen Trail and all FoHT members are welcome to join us!\n\nThis will be an 8:30am sharp start for an 19km Trail Walker loop\, a great way to get over your election hangover and clear your mind with a lovely walk in nature!\n\nThis walk starts near Rocky Creek Hut and winds it way through Kuitpo Forest North followed by a few kms on orienteering trails and a short off-trail section before making our way to Mount Bold Reservoir and some steep descents very challenging climbs but the views are amazing. After the half way mark the tough stuff is over and the second half is reasonably flat and goes through pine forest and bushland and again makes use of orienteering trails and goes off-trail so gaiters are a good idea for this walk.\n\nThere will a short break for morning tea as well a longer break for lunch.\n\nWalk Difficulty – Trail Walkers are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.\n\n \n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

Open grazing land with panoramic views follows\, before heading back into the Mount Crawford forest then along a beautifully constructed boardwalk before crossing Warren Rd and into more scrubland over Little Mount Crawford.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

SUMMARY:TW Waitpinga to Victor Harbor
DESCRIPTION:One of the most spectacular sections of the Trail. Walkers follow sandy tracks through the coastal scrub of Newland Head Conservation Park\, and will have dramatic clifftop views towards Victor Harbor.\n\nHere whales have been sighted\, as well as seals\, dolphins and the endangered white bellied sea eagle. At Kings Beach the Trail leaves the coast following roads and an uncleared road reserve to begin the long journey northward inland.\n\nThis walk is intended to serve as both an introduction to the Heysen Trail and a chance to catch up this section of the trail.  Rather than using a bus we will car-shuffle between the end and start of the walk.\n\nThere will be no support vehicle so please assess your level of fitness prior to joining this walk.\n\nIf the forecast maximum for Victor Harbor on Saturday evening is 28 or higher the event will be cancelled.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:LFT4 Smith Road to Eudunda to Schild Road
DESCRIPTION:Saturday; Around 20kms +\, we start in a westerly direction up in to the hills and then turning north\, crossing numerous creeks with undulations. We cross the Eudunda Road and out into some remote areas to the east.  We find ourselves crossing the Eudunda Road again and head north on some rolling hills and final inclines in to Eudunda.\n\nOur hike start and finish points are only about 11 kms along the main road\, south and north of Eudunda.  Quoted bus prices are expensive for such a short journey\, I thought it easier and cost effective to do a car shuffle for this weekends hikes.  We need to be at our meeting locations on time to allow organizing cars.  As there is no bus cost for this weekend\, you may consider a small donation to the Friends to compensate.\n\nSunday; Also close to 20kms +\, north with a steady incline out of Eudunda we follow the old train line that connected Morgan to Adelaide\, up over Hampden Spur followed by a steep ascent(100m) to Julia Road then north along Scenic Road\, now not often used but aptly named. Views from the hills are quite panoramic along here. From there we cut down to Schilds Road (steep decline).\n\nOur hike start and finish points are only about 11 kms along the main road\, south and north of Eudunda.  Quoted bus prices are expensive for such a short journey\, I thought it easier and cost effective to do a car shuffle for this weekends hikes.  We need to be at our meeting locations on time to allow organizing cars.  As there is no bus cost for this weekend\, you may consider a small donation to the Friends to compensate.\n\n \n\nWalk Difficulty – The Lavender Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. On occasions\, walkers are often rewarded with sightings of seals & dolphins. The trail progressively develops several undulations further along as you approach Blow Hole Beach within the Deep Creek National Park. The walk ends with a much-anticipated hill climb for approx. 2km through native vegetation back to the vehicles.\n\nInformation re BUS transport: For End to End walks the bus does NOT transport walkers from Adelaide to the walk. After registration\, walkers will be given instructions to drive their vehicle to the meeting point which will be at the END point of the day’s walk. The cars remain there and the bus transports the group to the start point. From there\, the group walks back to the cars.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base.
