SUMMARY:Kuitpo
DESCRIPTION:The walk commences from the oldest timber plantation in the Mount Lofty Ranges\, planted in 1898. Combining sections of the Onkeeta Trail\, Heysen Trail and the Willunga Basin Trail we will complete a loop. The walk is mainly  on open tracks\, while the landscape is a mixture of forest\, native vegetation and farmland. This is an easy walk with no major hills\, making it a good introduction for new walkers.

SUMMARY:M.Bridge- Monarto
DESCRIPTION:This is the first walk of the 325km Lavender Trail from Murray Bridge to Clare. Beginning in Murray Bridge\, this relatively flat section of the trail meanders along the Murray River for a short distance past wetlands and then into Rocky Gully Reserve. We get a glimpse of Mobilong Prison and pass Monato Zoo so there are opportunities for recalcitrant walkers to leave the trail at these points!\nOn the first walk of the Lavender Federation Trail a representative of SARTI (South Australian Recreation Trails Incorporated)\, the developers of the trail\, will give a brief outline of the history of the trail’s design and construction before we set out for the day. We also encourage walkers to join SARTI (it’s only $10) to support their maintenance of the trail ((https://lavenderfederationtrail.org.au/membership/ ).  Maps of the trail are available from the Heysen office.

SUMMARY:Burnside Trails
DESCRIPTION:Essentially a loop walk starting from Brock Reserve with a pleasant climb up to Mt Osmond golf course offering some splendid views back across Adelaide to the gulf. From near the golf course we will follow the Old Bullock Trail before dropping down towards Waterfall Gully then returning to the Old Bullock Trail and prior to going back past the golf course to cross Mt Osmond Road  and enter Themeda Reserve. From there we descend crossing Mt Osmond Road a couple of more times before a zig-zag climb back into Mt Osmond Reserve for the final gentle descent back to our cars.\n\nThis a relatively comfortable walk as the climb up to the golf course is not steep and the zig-zag climb is sharp but quite short.\n\nThere will be a short stop for morning tea.

SUMMARY:Cobbler Creek - Porosa plus
DESCRIPTION:A good walk to blow away the summer cobwebs – not too long\, but challenging in parts.\n\nWell worth the visit\, as Cobbler Creek contains the largest remaining stand of the endangered mallee box grassy woodland on the Adelaide plains\, making it an important conservation area.\n\nFrom the meeting place\, we have a pleasant walk along the footpath adjacent to the Golden Grove Park and a quiet residential street before entering Cobbler Creek Recreation Park. Initially we will follow a comfortable walking trail before we take a sharp descent on a rugged trail to meet the Porosa Trail next to Cobbler Creek.\n\nWe continue along the creek on a narrow track\, through bushland – the gums here are up to 150 years old.  The track heads west\, initially overlooking the creek. Further on we will have evening views over the Salisbury plain\, Torrens Island and Barker Inlet.\n\nAfter the Porosa turns east\, we have a short climb to Teakles Ruin. A bit further on is the view over Greenwith and the Mt Lofty Ranges (see the image above).\n\nFrom there we depart the Porosa to take the Valley Circuit on our way back to the car park.

SUMMARY:Burnside Trails
DESCRIPTION:A loop walk starting from Brock Reserve with a pleasant climb up towards Mt Osmond golf course offering some splendid views back across  Adelaide to the gulf. From near the golf course we cross  Mt  Osmond Road into Themeda Reserve descending before again crossing Mt Osmond  Road prior to a zig-zag climb back into Mt Osmond Reserve for the final gentle descent back to our cars.\n\nApart from the short zig-zag climb towards the end of the walk the initial climb up to near the golf course is relatively easy. There may be a opportunity for the more adventurous walkers to follow a steeper section and then rejoin the group.\n\nThis is another attempt at the walk that was to have been held on Feb 18 (cancelled due to the heat).
